171: Reputation – Sneaky Golden Calves
Reputation is a double-edged sword, and it can easily become a sneaky golden calf. When speaking of a person’s reputation, we are often describing how their character is perceived by others, which is closely tied to whether the person is well-liked or not. As we read our Bible, we find both passages that encourage having a good reputation, and passages that give caution to being liked by everyone. How do we reconcile the two? Pastor Adam and Steph help us break down the differences between actively pursuing a good reputation versus pursuing godly character and allowing reputation to be a by-product. *Scripture referenced in this episode: Proverbs 22:1, 1 Timothy 3:7, Luke 6:26, Isaiah 53:3.
